Behind the Scenes
Today I met with a casting agent from RED Tokyo. Who knows! Then I headed uptown to Harlem for a photo shoot on location at a nearby park. It went splendidly - although extremely cold!!! Enjoy the above depiction of some behind the scenes fun!

Last night was the grand opening for a new club called Cain where a party for a designer named Jeremy Scott (?) was hosted. Here's jut a few shots of the "fun". I couldn't believe some people are already dressing up for Halloween ... sheesh

Is this for real?!
Hi all =)
Today was fantastic! Well, I woke up late (10am as opposed to 8am) darn snooze button ... must've hit something off kilter in my manic groggy state! But, nonetheless I got up, threw on my running sneakers and bolted out the door with my iPod in tune. Just a block west, past B'way is a tree-lined trail off the coast =) it's beautiful, especially now with the leaves changing to yellows and reds!
I had a few errands to "run" (pun intended!) after my exercise so I brought along a shopping list and my debit card planning to stop into Duane Reade and then D'ag groceries. Phew! I got it all accomplished in about an hours time - was very proud of myself =) Feeling energized and chilled, I returned home to a text message for another casting call; raising todays tally to 3. So I scrambled to unload everything in its proper place, and then throw together some sense of "model-esque" appearance to rush out the door!
Here's the exciting part ... as I'm waiting at my first casting I get a phone call from Wendy (agent/booker) asking if I remembered casting for Oscar de la Renta on Monday (of course I did) "They loved you! And are booking you for their show December 22 in (drum roll please ... ) the Dominican Republic!!! DR is an island situated between Jamaica & Puerto Rico ... yeah I didn't know where it was either! lol But it sounds warm =) So needless to say, I was speechless and am totally ecstatic! The fitting is Monday and I will know more detailed information afterwards.
I'm still kinda in shock I think ... this makes me an international model guys! wow - my first passport stamp =)
Anyways, of course I called my mom as SOON as I left that casting, and then had to call dad too! Then walked and walked and walked some more to castings around SoHo ... naturally the train routes were not condusive to these locations which always means more walking required. Usually never far enough to justify a taxi fair ... but far enough nevertheless. I just got home and immediately sat down with my cup of hot chocolate, warm and comfy, ready to blog =) Well, it wasn't really hot chocolate ... its a calcium enriched chocolate Ensure drink and I sprinkled cinammon on top hehe
I'm ready for a nap <3

Updraft
God is so faithful.
In the little things He never ceases to amaze. Always the encourager to my petty insecurities and needs. The photo shoot today was a bit lame, disjumbled, dissapointing. But, I do think a few good beauty shots will come of it - Joey (photographer) was confident in that. He does great work. Unfortunately I hung around from about 2:30 - 7pm for approximately 2 split-sessions of shooting that totaled probably 15 mins tops. That's what happens when people show up 2 1/2 hours late to their call times ... ehem NOT ME!
Anyways, the encouraging part was when I left the photo shoot, actually. Dodging rain drops all the way to the subway station a few blocks away... the F train from Brooklyn to Manhattan arrived as I got to the station. Unbelievable... brace yourselves...
On the exact train I arrived for... from the same car I was ready to board... through the same door I was waiting to enter... exited my dearest, loveliest, beautiful CANDICE!!!! Oh how my world just stopped to see her encouraging face at the end of this less-than-ideal day! Needless to say, we hopped around a bit in a huge girlfriend hug and then proceeded to stand & talk on the platform as about 3 more F trains to Manhattan passed us by ... I couldn't have cared less!! LOL it was SO extraordinary to see her for those few moments. Looking forward to catching up with her in a more condusive setting very soon. I knew I missed her sweet spirit but didn't fully realize how much! It's so amazing how just seeing a familiar smiling face can turn things around. Although constantly surrounded by people in this city, it is more reminiscent of a bumper-car arena mixed with a lions den, rather than a fellowship of friends!

I'm heading out for another photo shoot ... wish I was more excited. Please pray for me today. It's been a rough looong week/end for me emotionally. I'm struggling with being completely unmotivated (are you kidding?) extremely lonely, even depressed. I'm totally homesick and finally was able to let go and have a good cry this morning. I'm missing things, people, loved ones ... comfort and familiarity. Feeling safe and protected. I'm so vulnerable out here.
I apologize for such an uplifting entry today =( But I just really need your prayers this week. I need to feel them. I need a 180 degree turn around in my outlook, attitude, and focus. To feel the Lord's arms around me.

Macy's Passport Fashion Cinema!
Last night was the premier showing of the Macy's Passport 2008 Fashion Cinema HD presentation! Unfortunately I was all alone in attendance ... my friends and fellow models all went together in LA =( wishing I could've gone with them, but it was neat nonetheless.
There was a nice sized audience too! I had to look around to find a good seat. Quite a few highlights from the show earned applause, whistles, and even cheers from the crowd ... always a positive sign.
What a surreal experience to watch myself on the BIIIIIIIG screen in HI-DEF no less! Weird ... lol but yes, cool. The only downer was being alone, not having anyone to share the experience with ... but other than that it was an unforgettable experience and I'm glad I attended.
I'm in for the day, finished with my castings and errands a few hours ago. It is getting chilly so I finally bit-the-bullet and found some knit gloves! My poor digits were numb today! LOL When I got back home I heated up a can of chicken stock and added some shelled soy-beans to the broth ... MmmmMmm EXACTLY what I needed to warm up my innards! =)
Now I think I'll take a cat-nap ... in about an hour Megan, Micah & I are going out for a Japanese/Sushi dinner on Broadway together, will be really nice. OH I just got an email saying I have yet another test shoot Sunday! Goody =)

Today I had another booking for a show! Good times ... 9:30am - 2:40pm! for JLM (couture bridal) they were a little crazy finicky about some things, but at least they knew what they wanted! LOL the show was beautiful; very fresh and elegant. 17 girls total.
After the show I ran some errands I've been meaning to get to and haven't had an opportunity with my days scheduled so tightly! I must've walked over 30 blocks! Woohoo NYC chilly weather =)

First Job in NYC!

^^^Nyahkor (also w/ RED) & I backstage before show ... hurry up & wait^^^After the show, Nyahkor and I walked across Park Ave to a nearby Starbucks for lunch (assorted fruit & cheese personal plates! MmMm) and some signature hot chocolate to warm our insides (the AC was on backstage! are they crazy?) Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate (skim milk w/whip) ... you have my recommendation!! SOOO good =)
I'm so happy Nykor & I met today! She is such a sweetheart and we really connected well. So much in common life/personality wise. I'm looking forward to staying in contact with her - definitely a friend! (luckily she feels the same about me =)

- my room is an octagon, with one right-angled wall (closet)
- Must climb 3 flights of stairs multiple times during the day to get here, who needs a gym?
- My book library has drastically compressed =)
- Yes, my closet is organized by sleeve length & hanger color! Don't hate =P
- AC tip: place bounce dryer sheets in the vent, acts as an air freshener/extra filter!
- keeping my bread in the refrigerator (or freezer for some brands) keeps it fresher, longer!

Welcome back
Hello!
I just wanted to write a quicky here to let you all know; as of 6:10am this morning the eagle has landed! I am back in NYC. I spent today settling into my room in the apartment (in between napping). I still have more to do before I go to bed (had to stop & watch the debate!) I want all my stuff out of the suitcases so I can put them up and out of sight so as to not wake to them in the morning =) Kinda a weird, but good & solid, feeling to be UNpacking for once! My own space ... exciting, comforting, and strange all at the same time.
Tomorrow I meet RED for digitals and get-on-the-same-page chit-chat. I'm anxious to hear what Wendy & Erin have to say... and to get to work! Wendy was so excited on the phone today to have me back.
Prayers are coveted.

NBC "Celebrity Catwalk Challenge" 10/11
Macy's Passport to Fashion: "Celebrity Catwalk Challenge" is showing Saturday October 11 on NBC! Look for it in your TV Guide and watch for me during the viewing! SO ... just in case you all were beginning to get really concerned about me =) rest assured that I had no freaking idea those words held any correlation to A.A. I'm experiencing deja-vu at the moment; I'm reminded of driving in LA during Passport with Sammi & Landon, all of a sudden I see an IHOP and proclaim: "OH! International House of Pancakes!? THAT'S what IHOP stands for?!"

NYC News
Hello everyone!
My apologies I have not written in a bit ... I've been chillaxing at home with the familia. Not a care in the world - HA don't I wish LOL no, but really, it has been very nice to be home.
I leave Friday (10/10) for another stop into San Francisco over the weekend, and then hop a red-eye flight Tuesday night 10/14 set to arrive EEEAAARRRLLLYYY morning Wednesday 10/15. Should be fun =P
The Lord has been so good to me - last week I "met" (via skype!) with a precious Christian newlywed couple who are renting their extra room out in their apartment. We talked for a bit, getting the formalities of an "interview" out of the way, and really clicked. Long story short, after much trials and tribulations with my housing situation - the Lord's provided an amazing home! I'm moving in! It's a lovely little abode, nice and clean. Monthly rent isn't too pricy - actually is cheaper than a lot of the spaces I inquired about. My room is completely separate so I have privacy all to myself - which is coveted! The property is situated on the Upper West Side between Amsterdam and Broadway ... I can walk to Central Park =). Very excited about this. As you can see, here are some pictures of my room (furniture not included) & the shared living/kitchen area =) small, but safe! Please praise the Lord with me as I thank Him for providing such a comfortable situation to arrive in when I land 10/15!
