Appreciation

I SO love having comments from you all! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave your love and show support. I really appreciate it more than ya know!

BTW Uncle John, no ignorance! Unfortunately, my blackberry doesn't have a camera integrated =( When my previous phone crapped out on me, I needed an immediate replacement - NOW the blackberries have cameras, but it wasn't until like 3 months after I already had mine. I love mine, but I'm holding out for the new BB Storm after they've perfected it =)

All my love to you all! xoxo

PS: I went out last night only to realize heels are not the desired footwear this time of year lol
Snow had stuck! It was beautiful - not on the ground, but tree branches, fences, cars, everywhere. So cool.

Let it Snow!

OKAY, so, I was sitting here thinking .... thinking real hard .... staring at an empty blog post trying desperately to find something interesting to share with ya'll today.

Utterly defeated .... I went to clean the bathroom.

"KAYLA! It's snowing come see!" Micah yells from the back bedroom.
"Really!?" As I bolted across the HUGE span of space between the bathroom and bedrooms (haha) and squeezed through our straw sized hallway, all while trying not to slip and fall in my socks.

I got to the window and sure 'nuff .... snow was falling O so gently! I stood and watched for a minute (immediately realizing I had no camera to document this historical moment in my life!) and threw on my sneakers and sleeping back coat, flew down three flights of stairs and out onto our front stoop .... blackberry in hand, Mom on speed-dial, "It's snowing!"

So surreal .... there's not enough to stick, but still: my first EVER snow fall and its in NYC at Christmas time. Doesn't get much better than that =)

Oh btw: I didn't forget, the bathroom did get cleaned =) momentary distraction.

Top of the World

My lady Nana (Ariana) gave me the sweetest blurb highlight in her blog! Check out the love! awwww =)

Today was a good day. Not too cold, not to blustery.... at least on the ground =P

I went to the TOP of the Empire State building today! Woohoo!I apologize again, for the lack of pictures documenting this event (posted pix are offline). However, it was completely spontaneous.... and I should have pictures soon, hopefully. You see....

after my casting this morning I ran a few errands and ended up in Greenwich Village at the agency to pick up prints for my portfolio. While I was there Yelena (friend) came in to pick up her check so we decided to go get lunch together. Also, I met a noob ("new-bee") guy just scouted off the street by our infamous mens division; his name's Lucas. So the three of us went to grab lunch and chat. He had a lot of questions about the business, understandably so. Hopefully Yelena and I straightened him out some! =)

LONG story short, Yelena went her way and Lucas and I ended up needing to catch the same train uptown again. His plan was to see the Empire State building and, once he discovered I'd never been, invited me along to join him. It was nice - much better than going it alone for either of us. Luckily he had a camera, and has my email, so that is how I am hopeful to get a few pictures out of the deal.

I can't even begin to describe the view from the top of the world! If it weren't for the clouds, I think we could've seen all the way to the west coast! (Lucas's from a farm in Oregon) It was surreal.... there's so much hype about the experience that I honestly wasn't expecting too much (everything's overrated?) honestly, the best 20 bucks I've spent being here. I stayed all the way through the sunset and got to see the city lights turn on. WOW. The perspective is incredible. Suddenly, I felt even smaller. The Financial District (at the southern tip of the island) was a powerful view .... with the Hudson and East rivers merging behind it's skyline, the statue of liberty and Ellis Island looking so small off to the right, the sun setting and casting shadows stretching from Jersey across the Hudson River to Manhattan's shore, the absence of the Twin Towers eerily felt. WOW (we said that a lot while up there) simply breathtaking. I stood facing south for a long while - hoping to sear the view into my memory. I think it worked. I will definitely return again, and again.

Not having ever seen or experienced the Twin Towers' majesty.... I can only imagine the emptiness New Yorkers feel when looking in the direction of ground zero. Even so, it feels like the Empire State building has taken on a new purpose of hope and dignity, as if it's standing a little taller, prouder, defiant. Call me crazy ....but not till you've experienced the top of the world, too.

Missing-Sister-Syndrome....

We both have symptoms, at the same time, 3000 miles apart! =) Yeah, I miss my little sis a lot this weekend; I was watching some dance videos I took of her back in October, made me wish I could've seen her performances Saturday.

My Camera broke people. I am soooooo .... MAD. After taking the pizza pictures with Fernando, I forgot to take pictures the rest of the night only to come home and find that while in my purse, the shutter decided to break! Micah (roomie) said it's obviously not a problem caused by dropping it, etc. So Casio or Costco should replace it since I bought it only a month and a half ago. But I'm bummed because now I have no way to document things .... it snowed Saturday night, but in Manhattan unless its a blizzard it really doesn't stick. SO until I'm in a snowfall, I guess I won't know if it snowed or not =) and if I am in a snowfall.... I don't have a camera to video for you!!! agh

I hate it when you think you found a really great deal on something fabulous (it was a great little camera) only to realize that you get what you pay for no matter what.... what I've paid for 2 Casio's I could've paid for 1 Cannon and probably not had this shutter problem. (of couse, if the stylist had dropped the Cannon instead of my first Casio - my theory is shot LOL)

It is 25 degress outside lovies.... the little island is an ice-box. Everyone's faces are frozen over LOL I imagine them thinking, "Just keep moving, just keep moving."

Megan and Micah brought home their Christmas decorations last eve. They hung their stockings and decorated a cute little 3ft tree we named Mr. Faux Jangles (he has jingle bell ornaments! I did come up with the name tehe). With Christmas music playing over the TV and an apple cinamon candle burning, it was nice. There's just something about a christmas tree.... even if it's only 3ft tall.

I would've taken pictures but, yeah.

Famosi per la Pizza

okay.... so I splurged a little =) bite me!

Last night was Fernando's last night out in NYC before his long awaited return to Brazil after 2.5yrs in the US. His family is so ecstatic! After our pizza pause, we had fun at Greenhouse for the remainder of the night. Although I will surely miss my friends' presence, I will not miss his horrible influence on a models' diet!! =P xo

Rockefeller Angels

The Rockefeller Tree has been lit, the first melodies of the season have been heard, and the Rockettes have shimmered and shined into our hearts. The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and its angels have ushered in the glamor of the season, awaited with much anticipation, never failing to inspire. Christmas Tree stands line the streets - each tree patiently awaiting its new home as the center piece of someone's holiday. Commercials have taken on their annual celebratory ornamentation, advertising this seasons' sales. White lights, colored lights, and blinking lights adorn the streets and trees of New York City. Families, friends, and love-birds lace up and skate their way around the infamous ice-rinks, taking part in the enchanting experience. All that's missing is snow now! =)

The Christmas season has officially commenced! My Pandora online Radio has a Christmas Holiday station as of today =) There's nothing like Christmas music to getcha in the Seasons Spirit!

I made it to Rockefeller center last evening.... but didn't stay for the lighting. Let me explain! I was SO excited to be a part of this tradition. I planned to arrive at 4pm (3 hours early!) to ensure I could SEE the entertainment and be able to enjoy the festivities (I don't generally do well in large crowds lol) Well, a last minute photo shoot came up - and instead of taking 1.5hr to do, it took 5.5hr. So I didn't get to RockCenter until 6pm and it was a zoo. I saw the center from a block away, and that's as close as I could get! Needless to say I was very disappointed - but I went on home and enjoyed it via the television.... which is the best way to enjoy the festivities next to being there up front and personal. So, I will make time to visit the Rockefeller tree sometime soon - we need some one-on-one time =P Next year.... NO photo shoots! lol

The photo shoot was great though! The pictures better be freakin' amazing for making me miss the show lol I think they will be.

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Miami, FL
Always the highlight of my pre-holiday routine! Someday, I hope to be able to participate in the grandeur. Amazing show, as always.

Test Results: Meg Urbani

These are set to run in the first printed issue of Prim magazine.... which means they will be my first tear sheets! Thank you Meg!

I'm a broken doll/puppet, yay =)

On a less exciting note.... I awoke this morning to find that my cartilage piercing had decided it wanted a blanket in this cold weather. UGH. It's completely overgrown. SO, after contemplating (and quickly dismissing) performing surgery on myself to cut it open, I decided to look up piercing parlors and am hoping the one I've chosen will be able to fix this problem. I'm not really freaking out (anymore) I'm just annoyed. I don't want to have to take it out, let it heal, and then re-pierce it 8 months from now.... what was the point of getting it done with my girls then???

Praying it'll be okay....
