I wanted to share an epiphany (one of only many might I add. . .I'd retype the whole book but I'd rather ya'll go and support John & Stasi Eldredge and buy the binding.) from my readings that specifically targets you and me: the female breed.
Have you ever given much thought to the fact that the dawn of creation was glorious? MAGNIFICIENT. Beauty. There aren't words to accurately describe our Lord's creativity and genius.
Something truly astonishing happens at the end of creation, we know. God sets His own image on the earth. He creates a son--a man in His very likeness, like Himself! NOW the creation is surely perfected. With His very image walking and experiencing a relational intimacy we fallen sons and daughters only ache for, surely, the creation is complete.
No. It is incomplete. Something is missing. It is not good, yet.
Woman. Eve. She is the crescendo! The astonishing, flourishing, finale of creation finishes not with Adam. . . it is Eve. She is not an afterthought that God remembered in the nick-of-time. She is not just a nice addition. Read through the story of creation and tell me, given the way the story unfolds, with each step of creation becoming more grand and glorious, ultimately ending in Adam and Eve as the flesh likeness of God Himself. . . tell me she is not the crown of creation? Gods piece de resistance is woman. Nothing can take her place. She is one of a kind.
You are one of a kind. You are the crown of creation. We, dear girls, are the creations' crescendo! The entire universe is incomplete without us.
Let that melt in your heart for a moment. You are that irreplaceable to our God.
We bear the image of God in a way that only the feminine can. God desired to reveal something about Himself in the creation of femininity. All of his creation is a reflection of His glory--so what do we represent as women? As daughters of Eve?
- God is relational to His core.
- His heart is for romance.
- He longs to play an irreplaceable role in adventures.
- God has a beauty to unveil.
Read Captivating. Hopefully this post simply whetted your appetites. I am captivated by its truths--by discovering the wonderous creation that I am and by how humbling it is that God would choose me to reflect such beauty in Him.
