A'latte School!

It's a puppy!
^I decided to take-up a new talent this week: Latte Art^

^I call this one "Chasing Hearts"^
The employees love that I'm experimenting with recipes and practicing my latte art LOL they get free espresso to keep them awake!

Soooo this week has had some interesting moments =) I apologize for being so absent from my blogging these past few months - summer was bliss in so many ways, the time escaped me! I thoroughly enjoyed it ...and now I can't believe I'm back in college! Ms. Supermodel is now a student again...wow! It's a good thing. I am taking an Athletics Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation course, Algebra, and Ballet! Have enjoyed settling into the new routine with school, work, and gym this week and am excited to continue. Hope you all are doing well! I will be around more now, I promise =)

Philippians 4:8

And in lieu of a conversation held late last evening (8.25.09) this verse has a whole new meaning. Thank you for being my irons' sharpening blade, Chris. xo

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." - Philippians 4:8

This verse was stenciled on my rooms' wall for 7 years... I've known it well. I've loved it well. It has been tattooed on my hearts' wall forever. Perhaps this plays into why I feel such urgency and vigilant protectiveness over its meaning - with respect to the opinions I've heard today regarding its interpretation; I am disappointed and in adamant disagreement with the view I learned.

It was said that the phrase in verse 8 "...if anything is excellent or praiseworthy..." is meant as a backpedal, stating something of the like, "...as long as its better than bad, think about such things." because apparently, the first part of the verse stating all that is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable...that's all just a bit too difficult for us humans. So, just so long as its "better than bad" ...you're doing alright by God!

Just "better than bad" is good enough? Hmm...really now.

Anything inherently good is by definition the absence of bad, as darkness is the absence of light - nonexistent in and of itself. A "better than bad" good is tainted by bad because it is not inherently good. Ya follow my logic there? The world finds acts of evil praiseworthy...in compromise should we also? This reasoning correlates ironically with "The ends justifies the means." methodology. "...Excellent and Praiseworthy..." is meant as a challenge, an urging, and exclamation point to the a fore mentioned challenge to strive for the most admirable of qualities. God's standard is one of excellence; there is no room for backpedaling or compromise with God! It is insubordinate of us to rebel against His standard. We are defying the excellence God has given us the ability to achieve through his Sons' sacrifice.

What a compromise to the challenge we as believers have been called to meet, as reflections of Christs' glory. What an embarrassment to the responsibility we have been given stewardship of; His Holy, Excellent, Good, and Praiseworthy name. We are called to a higher standard than mediocrity... that standard is Christ. Nothing about Christ was mediocre or compromising, was merely good because it was in a minuscule amount better than bad! It is a slippery slope to not protect the sovereignty of Gods word with vigilance. Compromise and lukewarm absence of conviction become the detrimental result.
